We read the true account of King Hezekiah’s life being extended by 15 years in the book of 2 Kings 20:1-7 as God hears his prayers and being instructed to place a poultice of figs on his boil thus making a full recovery it was of course God who would specify the length of his years but as to the solution for his medical condition this begs the inevitable question of how was it that King Hezekiah was oblivious to this treatment for a life threatening boil in the first place one can only speculate as to the reason for his apparent ignorance of a solution which on the face of it sounds so simple, with figs having recognised healing properties of anti septic and anti bacterial to name but two such benefits a quick internet search will confirm their application for a number of medical conditions thus confirming for those who take the time to investigate this story from the bible for themselves, a number of years ago my wife and I visited Singapore national orchid centre while there we walked around their healing garden which contains over 400 healing plants and trees when we consider the above true story we are reminded that ignorance is not bliss after all that God says My people perish for lack of knowledge
In Genesis 1:11-12 we read how God has amply provided nourishment and the treatment of medical conditions for our well being through His provision of trees that yield their fruit,the herb that yields seed’s that will maintain healthy life and even the grass has significance in this picture for mankind ” more about that later” for all who heed His Holy word if we ignore these verses we miss out on Gods best for keeping our selves protected against disease with the above story about King Hezekiah’s health returning to him as but one example of a simple but powerful revelation for treating an health issue.
In the book of Revelation Chapter 22:2 reference to the new Jerusalem and a river proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb in the middle of it’s street and either side of the river, was the tree of life which bore twelve fruits each tree yielding it’s fruit every month the leaves of the trees were for the healing of the nations while this is picture for an future time one can appreciate that leaves are not only mentioned but have healing properties associated with them may the reader consider that God is the same yesterday today and forever He changes not therefore would it not be unreasonable to appreciate that His desire is that none would perish but have everlasting life this we appreciate can only be found through the all complete and atoning work of Christ alone who has borne our sins and iniquities upon Himself who was are sin bearer but truly cares about every aspect of our lives with the whole revelation of scripture from the opening verses in Genesis to the closing words in the book of Revelation His desire is that we might experience life and in all it’s abundance as we read in John 10:10 the thief comes only to rob steal and to destroy, But I have come that you might have life more abundantly.
