Seeking for truth.

Back in my youth my friends and I looking for adventure decided to trace the source of the village stream  following its course until it met the mighty river Thames which in turn would ultimately flow through England’s capital of London then finally on its journey all the way out to the sea.

Our friend’s father took us up stream closer to the source where the spring was thought to be located leaving the remaining distance for us to complete and investigate for ourselves, as we drew near they said,” listen you can hear the water running over stones near by,that’s got to be it and proceeded to turn around and walk down stream I protested and said , ” let’s be sure as it may not be”, but due to their insistence I relented and we continued on with our journey over the next few days until we finally reached are intended destination the river Thames.  It was quite an adventure  but what of the true source, had we really found the start?

Interestingly we would pass this way on route to school and back and I often pondered  this niggling question many years later I shared my earlier adventure with a friend of the unanswered question so we decided to put  my curiosity to rest and investigate this old memory.

As we drew near the spot from all those years previously I finally got my answer to this question, my friends had misjudged the start of the stream and the spring  was to be found  some distance away perhaps half a mile, ”so what”  you might say, does it really matter ?  Well to those of us in this world who care about truth the answer is very clearly  ”yes”  it does matter and it is like any thing that purports to be real  If there is any merit  then it is worthy of investigation only then will we experience for ourselves that its claims are true.

As the years rolled by I wondered what had become of my old friends and where their lives had taken them. They went in very different directions both geographically and spiritually too as I was to find out.

One exclaimed that he was far too scientifically minded to take the Bible seriously in any way and to my knowledge he never truly investigated the claims of Jesus Christ. So what does God’s word say about such a person ? We read in Psalm 14:1 The fool has said in his heart there is no God

The older brother ended up going to the Mormon church and after many years left it feeling thoroughly disillusioned and dissatisfied with his experience never wanting to hear another word on the subject of religion. Who can blame him for the book of Mormon was not written under inspiration of the Holy spirit but is the work of man”s vain imagination with the Bible giving us dire warnings. See what God says in Revelation 22:18-19

For I testify to everyone who hears the prophecies of this book, if any one add’s to these things God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book and if any one takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the book of life, from the holy city and from the things which are written in this book.

The Mormon church not content but with adding or taking a few words from the Holy inspired word of God but wrote a whole new twisted version with its far reaching consequences. We read in 2 Timothy 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness that the man of god may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Yet another experienced a life crises and contemplated ending his life but for the intervention of a Godly woman who explained to him that life had meaning and purpose that was worthy of investigating the claims of Jesus Christ for himself and in doing so started going to a Bible believing Church. They ended up marrying and I am encouraged for his sake that he found the narrow path that leads to eternal life.  John 14:6 Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father except by me.

My spiritual journey started many years later as I pondered life’s true purpose and why there was so much suffering in this world, I  investigated spiritualism for a while deciding it was not for me but after a number of years  I had a conversation with a christian man at work whose  life was different. He stated that God still speaks today !! and he explained the error of spiritualism as the Bible strictly warns us in Leviticus 20:27 and Deuteronomy 18:11-12

“One who conjures up spells or a medium, spiritualist  or one who calls up the dead. All who do these things are an abomination to the Lord.

Shortly after meeting my friend from work I made the decision to become a christian and my life has been an ever changing testimony since which I will share at a later date.

I have seen the prophetic word spoken into countless lives over the years which have been spot on accurate and have come to pass thus confirming that the modern day prophecy is available through those who operate in the office of the prophet.

You must be born again.

I would like to invite the viewer of this site to contemplate for themselves the amazing journey that God has planned for them. It starts with acknowledging who God is, believing that the way of salvation is through Jesus Christ. Jesus says in John:14:6 I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me. It is like God is sending out an RSVP to the world as He says in Revelation 3:20 I stand at the door and knock and if any one hears my voice and opens the door I will come in and dine with him.

The key word in this scripture has to be ”IF” for the response has to come from the individual who has to respond to this gentle knocking on our hearts for this is not talking about a physical door rather it is a metaphor for the human heart of man.

The claims that Jesus made about himself:

John 8:12 Jesus spoke to them saying, “I am the light of the world, He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.

The most powerful statement that the Bible makes is that we can live again in heaven one day and this is an experience that starts with acknowledging who Jesus Christ is and what he has done for you on the cross and turning from our sins,  putting our trust in Christ alone by loving and obeying Him. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith not of yourselves it is the gift of God not by works lest any man should boast.

The Apostle Paul told the people in Lystra;

You should turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them, who in bygone generations allowed all nations to walk in their own ways. Nevertheless he did not leave himself without witness, in that he did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness (Acts 14:15-17).
